There are a few things you should know about hypnosis and/or hypnotherapy, Here are some of them:
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a focused trance state that is similar to meditation, where the mind goes into an alpha state and the unconscious is brought to the forefront. Unlike meditation in a hypnotic state, attention is focused, sometimes on a desired outcome, occurrence, or time.
When you are in a hypnotic state you are always in control and will not do anything that you don't want to do.
Throughout the day a person goes in and out of trance states. This happens when one drives without thinking about where they are going and yet end up at the correct destination. It also takes place when one is shopping or just "zoning out".
Contrary to some popular and old movies and shows, you cannot be made to do anything you don't want to do in a hypnotic state. You may or may not remember a hypnosis session, and you remembering or not remembering is not an indicator of whether or not you are hypnotized.
Hypnosis is safe unless you are attempting it while driving or operating dangerous machinery!
Hypnosis or "guided visualization can be something like the audio below when the hypnotherapist uses a pre-determined script that uses metaphors. Listen to an example of a hypnosis "script" below.
